Canadian playwright, Lucia Frangione’s well-loved ode to Christmas transports us to a small radio station, Christmas Eve, 1948. Our characters are performing a musical revue over the air on location at the Medicine Hat College Theatre for a live audience. Between the carols and stories, we see behind the scenes as the characters deal with an impending snowstorm, log cake, candy sprinkles, and a baby on set. Oh, the hijinks!
This is a two act production running approximately 120 minutes. There will be an intermission.
Cast Information
Male Cast: 2
DANNY “the Kid” Frank: The Frank's son, and the "Go Boy" of [CKOS]. A gangly young man who hasn't quite grown into his body yet. Naturally awkward.
PERCIVAL B. Frank: The station manager, main DJ, Sound Technician, and newscaster. He’s tightly wound before a show: a caged ferret. But as soon as he takes the stage, which he loves, he embodies confidence and you realize he’s actually quite handsome and secretly a romantic and has a lovely chocolate voice.
Female Cast: 3
YOLANDA Frank: Percival's Dutch wife, and Danny’s mother. The host to the "Let's Be Frank" talk show. Efficient, tall, and glamorous. Speaks in an accent.
KITTY McNally: The sultry DJ for the Night Of Swing hour, and weather girl.
SYLVIA White: The pianist and host of the “Cook It White Tonight” show. Accompanies music for the entire show.
Artists of all backgrounds and ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
